Michael Smith is still looking for a major win

New PDC Darts World Champion Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright supported Michael Smith to become a dominant force in the sport once he secured that elusive main title.

Smith fell short of his run for his first world championship win, reacting from 2-0 and 3-2 to a 5-4 lead before Wright rattled off three straight sets to claim a thrilling 7- win. 5 at the Alexandra Palace.

The Englishman’s defeat is his sixth place in a major final, although Wright – now a two-time world champion – has predicted that Smith will lift the Sid Waddell Trophy in the future.
