Meghan Markle she may have resigned from her royal duties, but she may still be filed as part of a civil suit against Prince Andrew, who has been accused of sexual abuse by Virginia Giuffrè.
David Boies, a lawyer representing Giuffre in the case, told The Daily Beast that his team is “considering” deposing the Duchess of Sussex if the case goes to trial. There has been no suggestion that Meghan was involved in any wrongdoing and Andrew has denied the allegations against him. Andrew’s lawyers are expected to support their motion to dismiss the case on January 4th.
According to Boies, there are three reasons Meghan might face a potential deposition: “One; she’s in the US, so we have jurisdiction over her.”
“Two; you are someone who obviously, at least for a period of time, was a close associate of Prince Andrew and therefore is able to perhaps have seen what he did, and perhaps if not to have seen what he did to I have heard of it, “he continued. “Due to her past association with him, she may very well have an important acquaintance and will certainly have some knowledge.”
