regrets? Former hen party Katie Thurston has a few – including her recent “12 Days of Messy” challenge, which was intended as a gesture of love towards her new boyfriend, John Hersey, not a diss against her ex boyfriend, Blake Moynes.
Last month, Thurston, 30, remembered the contestants in his season bachelorette party, which aired earlier this year, giving each of them a song from Taylor Swiftthe new album, Red (Taylor’s version).
The Short degree the alum of season 25 kicked off on November 11 by dedicating “We will never get back together” to Moynes, 31, before making fun of his other former suitors including Aaron Clancy, James Bonsall And Mike Planeta.
He celebrated the final day of the challenge by teasing a new romance with former contestant Hersey, 27, whom he had sent home during the second week of his season, which began filming in March.
However, in an Instagram Live video on Thursday, December 16 via Hersey’s account, Thurston said she regretted her decision to post the list to the world knowing how much backlash she received.
“If I could go back in time and not do the ’12 days of mess,’ I wouldn’t, to be honest,” said the Washington native.
After talking to the ex hen party Becca Kufrin who stopped following her after she cast a shadow on her boyfriend, Thomas Jacobs, she learned a lot about how people perceived what she thought was a harmless joke.
“What I’m learning is that I can see things my way … like light and fun [but] there’s everyone’s personal experience, “he said via Instagram Live.
The most disappointing response Thurston got from the “12 Days of Messy” video was from those who couldn’t believe he was dating Hersey.
“What I didn’t like was the amount of people who thought there was no way John and I could have a connection,” explained the TV personality. “That John is such a friend in the areas.”
“I loved it,” Hersey interjected as he sat next to her on Instagram Live. “It was so funny.”
Thurston, however, didn’t see the humor in it, telling his followers that his intention was to “really show that, like, to me, John is my world. John is handsome, John is romantic, John is everything. I wanted to make a great gesture to prove it. “
The reality star has been criticized for moving forward so fast after wrapping up her engagement to Moynes in October, but Thurston doesn’t think that’s right.
“Appearance, [John and I] talked about that. We talked about alerting Blake, “she explained Thursday.” But here’s the thing I think people forget… we’re just normal people trying to live a normal life. When have you ever had to tell an ex you’re seeing someone new? And how would you tell him? “
Thurston wonders if he would get less hate online if he told Moynes, but it was never his intention to hurt his ex-boyfriend.
“All I know is, right now [I did the ‘12 Days of Messy’] I was, and still am, the happiest I’ve ever been, “Thurston said.” I wanted to make a grand statement about where I am and who I am with. It’s all I can do is live my truth, live my happiness and , you know, the people who want to be there and support us, great. If you don’t, that’s okay. “
At the People’s Choice Awards on December 7, Thurston said exclusively Us Weekly who was in the “honeymoon phase” with Hersey.
“We’re fine, really,” he said of the state of his relationship with the 27-year-old bartender. “It’s very easy to just enjoy and live my life – and that’s kind of what we’re doing. We don’t hold back for anyone. “
For his part, Moynes has hinted that he’s ready to start dating again, but he’s not all that interested in a certain red flower.
“Hey, I’m all for the people who come to say hello!” wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, Dec. 14. “But forget about the roses – those things are just stressing me out now lolll 🥀.”
