The third Ashes Test will continue as planned after players from England and Australia have returned all negative Covid-19 PCR tests.

However, there are now six positive cases in the camp in England – three support staff and three family members – raising concerns about the future spread of the virus.

The game was allowed to continue after the England team returned negative lateral flow tests, with the second day starting half an hour later than expected.

It was agreed that on Monday evening both teams would perform the PCR tests, which take longer to process but are more reliable indicators.
