The novel coronavirus has made its way around the world after first appearing in Wuhan province, Hubei, China in December 2019 – and today’s biggest stars aren’t immune.
Tom Hanks And Rita Wilson were among the first high-profile names to test positive for COVID-19. On March 11, 2020, the Academy Award winner shared the symptoms the couple experienced during their stay in Australia, where Hanks was working on pre-production for Baz Luhrmannthe biopic of Elvis Presley.
“We felt a little tired, like we had a cold and some muscle aches,” the Forrest Gump the actor said about him and Wilson. “Rita had chills that came and went.”
On March 16, 2020, Us Weekly confirmed that Hanks and Wilson were discharged from the hospital. The couple, who have been married for 30 years, rented a house in Australia before returning to the United States
Almost a week after Hanks and Wilson’s diagnosis was confirmed, Idris Elba | announced that he too has contracted the virus. On Monday he revealed via Twitter that he decided to take the test after learning that a person he was in contact with tested positive on March 13, 2020.
The day after speaking, the English actor shared that Hanks’ confession inspired him to talk about his condition. “I’m really proud of Tom Hanks, who is also someone in the public eye who came out and said he had him and was public about it.” Cats the actor said in a streaming video on Twitter. “I was really motivated by Tom moving there.”
