John Hanlon will bring Skyace from Ireland in an attempt to get her back on track in the Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Mares’ Hurdle in Sandown on Saturday.
Little has gone well for the seven-year-old since winning the Grade One Mares Novice Hurdle Championship final at Fairyhouse last April.
In four races since then, she crashed, picked up, finished last of four and drifted off behind Honeysuckle in Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse on her last start.
However, she has been pleased with Hanlon lately, and the Carlow County operator believes this ranked contest is a good opportunity for her to show off her true colors.
“He’s fine. All roads lead to Sandown at the moment,” he said.
“I just hope the ground doesn’t get softer. If it rained a lot there, we might not be running, but we’re definitely running right now.
“It made me happy again. After that crash I wanted to give her a couple of good runs.
“I took one in a four horse race and the last day it was outclassed. When you take on Honeysuckle you’re in trouble so we just gave her a good run and now she’s back in her class.
“The big problem here is that there are no regattas suitable for her. At Christmas there was nothing and this regatta is ideal for her, so we will go out to sea.”
