The ECB summoned six members of the England T20 squad home ahead of their West Indies tour in January, halting their Big Bash League campaigns.

Sam Billings and Saqib Mahmood (Sydney Thunder), George Garton (Adelaide Strikers), Chris Jordan (who has already returned home), James Vince (Sydney Sixers), Tymal Mills (Perth Scorchers) and Reece Topley (Melbourne Renegades) were nominated in the 16 squads to play in the West Indies series at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Team members were asked to return home by January 7 and enter quarantine before flying to the Caribbean on the 15th before the five-game series that will run from 22-30.

Billings was in good shape for the Thunder and smashed 67 balls of 35 to end the Perth Scorchers’ six-game streak in the BBL last week.

Sunday’s clash with Adelaide Strikers will be Billings and Mahmood’s last game for the Thunder, while Garton has been named sub X-factor for the Strikers for the same game.

In addition to the streak with England, the Windies will also face Ireland in three one-day international matches in Jamaica from January 8 before a T20 international single on January 16.

Kieron Pollard will be captain of the squad, which was announced on Friday, in a squad that doesn’t include veteran Chris Gayle, but the West Indies said they “properly honor” the longtime hitter.

Jofra Archer will miss England with the 26-year-old suffering from an elbow problem that will rule him out until the summer.
