Michael Smith scored twice as Rotherham returned to victory with a 2-1 League One victory over Bolton.
Smith moved up to 17 goals for the season in all competitions with his brace on both sides of Eoin Doyle’s draw for visitors.
The Millers’ 21-game unbeaten run was interrupted by Accrington on Boxing Day, but the promotion hopefuls got back in shape thanks to two clinical headers from their best shooter.
The game erupted before half-time with Rotherham taking the lead after 40 minutes as Smith rose higher to put the ball into the far post from Shane Ferguson’s cross.
Doyle shot Bolton two minutes later, turning and clinically poking behind Viktor Johansson.
Rotherham increased the pressure after the hour and Wanderers goalkeeper Joel Dixon made a point blank save on Freddie Ladapo before Rarmani Edmonds-Green’s shot was deflected wide.
Paul Warne’s side scored the winning goal with 16 minutes remaining when Chiedozie Ogbene found the perfect ball for Smith to bury in the lower corner with a header.
