People Believe What They Want To Believe – Bill’s Message of the Day

At yesterday’s mass the priest raised Roe v. Wade, which caused some congregation members to actually hear the sermon. Usually, the homily remains within the safe confines of the scriptures of yore.

The theme was that all life is valued equally by God and that includes the unborn, so you can’t kill them. Good message, nothing new.

The problem is that “God” means different things to different people. People believe that what they want to believe and what they want to believe is usually convenient. So, if you work in Hollywood, for example, or are a member of the progressive movement, you are in favor of the choice. You must be or you will be expelled. It is uncomfortable.

America is now a secular country where beliefs conform to the winds of society, not to a higher power or a higher good.

Therefore, it is much easier for fundamentally good people to do questionable things: how to support and promote the end of the unborn child’s existence.

The less “God” in a society, the less protections there are for all. No question.
