As we prepare for the final week of the 2021 regular season, Neil Reynolds has opened a huge nine-point gap over Jeff Reinebold … with the playoffs yet to come, there’s still hope for Jeff, but the comeback has to begin. NOW!

In addition to hosting Inside the embrace on Sky Sports NFL every Tuesday at 9pm, Neil and Jeff post a weekly audio edition of ITH every Wednesday where they make their game choices.

Neil scored 12 to Jeff’s 11 in week 17 to open a 167-158 lead over the year, as he correctly called the Tennessee Titans win over the Miami Dolphins which helped clinch the AFC South division crown and reclaim the seed n. 1 in the conference.

NEIL PICKS: Chiefs

“I think the Chiefs – although the defeat to the Bengals last week was a disappointment, especially on the defensive – get back on track here against Denver.

“And this could be the end of Vic Fangio as head coach of the Broncos. They are now six consecutive losing seasons for that franchise since winning Super Bowl 50.”

JEFF PICKS: Chiefs

“I think Kansas City wins the game. Times are tough in Denver right now.”

Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles

NEIL PICKS: Cowboys

“It looks like Philly will be resting some starters. They are stuck in their playoff position in the NFC, so I’m going with Dallas away.”

JEFF PICKS: Cowboys

“Yes, I choose Dallas too. Even though I was really disappointed with the first half that the Cowboys had last week against Arizona, particularly from an offensive point of view, they seemed disinterested.

“They will need consistency as they make their way to the playoffs, as they will play that level of defense every week.”

Indianapolis Colts @ Jacksonville Jaguars

NEIL PICKS: Colts

“Indy needs to win to get in and I think they get the job done. Jacksonville was a ‘do well’ game for pretty much everyone on their list.”

JEFF PICKS: Colts

“Fifty. FIFTY! That’s all I’m saying. The Jags dropped 50 points to the Patriots last week!”

San Francisco 49ers @ Los Angeles Rams

NEIL PICKS: Rams

“The 49ers compared well to the Rams, winning the last five streak, including week 10 where they defeated them 31-10, running 44 times that day!

“But I think this is dangerous for San Francisco, as they lose to the Rams here and are eliminated from the playoffs by New Orleans (if they beat Atlanta).

“I’m a little worried about Matthew Stafford’s tendency to turn football upside down right now, especially in the playoffs, but I support him to get the win here.”

JEFF CHOOSES: 49ers

“I am jumping on the 49er bandwagon here and say they will keep running the ball on the Rams with success.”

Los Angeles Chargers @ Las Vegas Raiders

NEIL PICKS: Battery charger

“This is a winning match, the last of the regular season.

“The Raiders have won three in a row to get back to this one, but I love that Justin Herbert gets the Chargers win on the road that sees them sneak into the playoffs.”

JEFF PICKS: Battery charger

“It takes a little bit to find a guy who has done a better job, in a really tough situation, than Rich Bisaccia since he took over as interim manager.

“But I’m still taking the Chargers. As if I support the Raiders, I know they will lose.”
