Sustainability was a popular buzzword in 2021, especially in fashion, as designers and luxury fashion brands worked hard to make their clothes more environmentally friendly. Fast fashion has been criticized for encouraging excessive consumption and excessive shopping habits.
In the midst of this, model Natalia Bryant, daughter of the late basketball star Kobe Bryant, attended the 2021 Met Gala wearing an entirely recycled dress. She looked beautiful in the interesting silhouette designed by Conner Ives, who went to Instagram to share a post. Check it out here:
The floral sequin dress in recycled PET plastic was the very definition of sustainably made haute couture. The dress was curiously the final piece of Ives’ A / W 2021 collection entitled “The American Dream”.
The 18-year-old wore flattering makeup with gold and bronze undertones, while she chose emeralds for her choice of jewelry. Ives shared what was behind the making of the particularly unique dress. “This dress was originally the centerpiece of the costume show. Due to some changes in the exhibition layout, this dress was later replaced with look 1 from the same collection. It created this fortuitous opportunity for a red carpet moment that I’ve been dreaming of ever since I started drawing this shape. This is the conclusion of 2 wild years that have perfected this body of work. The perfect end to 24 wild months. Thank you all for the immense support, my heart is so full “
The look was designed by celebrity stylist Law Roach; the dress in particular was chosen by Rowing personally the editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. It took the young designer almost 2 years to complete the gorgeous dress.
She accompanied her Instagram post with heartfelt notes of gratitude. “The biggest thanks goes to Natalia and the entire Bryant family. One of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of working with. You wore this dress so elegantly and all I can say is that it debut. I feel so honored to have received this moment. Natalia; you have such a bright future ahead of you. I can’t wait to see what you do next. “
Ives concluded: “I’m just taking this moment. I feel so happy to be able to reach these career milestones with such lovely and supportive people. Thank you for all the kind messages I’m getting. I’m so humbled.”
