TOKYO (AP) – French designer Manfred Thierry Mugler, whose fantastic models were worn by celebrities such as Madonna, Lady Gaga and Cardi B., has died. He was 73 years old.
He died on Sunday, his official Instagram account said. “May his soul rest in peace”, he said to himself in an all-black post with no image. He did not provide a cause of death.
Mugler, who launched his brand in 1973, has become famous for his architectural style, which is characterized by broad shoulders and a slim waist. The use of futuristic plastic-like fabric in his sculpted clothing has become a trademark.
She defined haute couture for several decades, dressing Diana Ross and Beyonce at galas, red carpets and runways.
His designs were not afraid of being extravagant, sometimes resembling robotic suits with protruding conical shapes. Mugler also had a famous perfume line, which started in the 1990s.
The world of fashion has filled with a wave of sympathy. Bella Hadid, an American model, said “Nonononono”, followed by an image of a sad face, while American actress January Jones responded with the sign of the heart, from their official Instagram accounts.
In addition to clothes, Mugler created films and photographs, and was a dancer, acrobat and avid bodybuilder, emphasizing that he always wanted to explore the human body as an art.
“I’ve always felt like a director and the clothes I made were a direction of the newspaper,” Mugler told Interview Magazine.
Questions about his funeral arrangements were not answered immediately.
