Mercedes-Benz FWKL Drives Fashion Forward With Latest Instalment

Held at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center (KLPAC) from December 1 to 3, 2021, the highly anticipated fashion event is back with a number of well-known designers who showcased their latest contemporary designs serving as a platform for emerging and seasoned designers in the the local fashion industry to showcase their collections and the inspirations that characterize the brand.

For three consecutive nights, the KLPAC theater for the performing arts was transformed into a fashion auditorium for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur 2021, complete with a runway flanked by the newly launched Mercedes-Benz A-Class and GLA models.

The three-day fashion event was attended by over 1,000 guests ranging from local designers, celebrities and high society figures, fashion muses, key opinion leaders, as well as stylish customers and Mercedes-Benz fans. The event affirmed how trendy design, pioneering innovations and modern luxury are all core principles of the company, reflecting their global commitment to fashion that spans over 20 years and has grown to over 60 platforms in over. 45 countries.

The company also presented its third MBFWKL Fashion Futures Design Competition on the final night, an independent competition held annually as a key component of the event, aimed at promising Malaysian designers with six months or four years of work experience in the fashion industry. Each of the five finalists presented four sets of original ready-to-wear looks based on the evening’s theme.

Augustman Malaysia had the privilege of inviting our A-Listers and following the opening night of MBFWKL 2021 live, as headliner Brian Khoo and Vestio Bespoke of our Men of the Year Vincent Siow. For her expert opinion and a different perspective on men’s fashion, our editor KC Yap reached out to well-known fashion designer Andrea Wong and invited her to be his co-host for the live stream on Facebook. Former fashion editor of Harper’s Bazaar Malaysia and later editor in chief of Elle Malaysia, Andrea has over 16 years of experience in editorial, commercial, personal and celebrity styling, and is best known for being the stylist / fashion consultant for the Warner Bros. film Crazy and rich Asians.

Andrea Wong set an example of sustainability by giving new life to a second-hand suit from her father.
