Masked Singer’s Chandelier unveiled as Heather Small in first elimination on ITV show

The Masked Singer UK saw Heather Small unveiled as Chandelier as the new 2022 series of the ITV show returned on Saturday January 1st.

British soul singer and former band leader M People, 56, shocked judges Rita Ora, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan, after being unmasked as Chandelier in the show that returned on New Year’s Day.

Heather, who is best known for her hits Proud and Moving On Up, revealed how she disguised her voice while singing a cover of Patsy Cline’s Crazy because she was “told” that her voice is “very distinctive”.

The Search for the Hero hitmaker had a ship on her head and revealed it was a clue to her initials “HMS” before she was asked by host Joel Dommett why she should be on the show.

Heather said, “Because I’ve seen Gabrielle and Joss Stone say it was a lot of fun. So I thought I’d give it a try.”

When asked if Rita could perform the song in her own voice, Heather replied, “I don’t know! I practiced so much with the other voice!”

The famous ITV contest sees celebrities hide their identities under a dramatic costume and provide cryptic clues about their lives before singing on stage.

Viewers and the star-studded jury must guess who is under the mask with a character who is asked to reveal their identity each week.

It comes after Joss Stone, who wore a sausage costume, was crowned the winner of the 2021 series by beating JLS star Aston Merrygold and singer Ne-Yo in the final.

While Nicola Roberts was revealed to be Queen Bee after being crowned winner of The Masked Singer UK in 2020.
