Jamie Vardy’s American soccer club Rochester New York FC appoint Bruno Baltazar as club’s first head coach since relaunching | Football News

Jamie Vardy’s American football team, Rochester New York FC, has named Bruno Baltazar as the club’s first manager since the relaunch for the upcoming 2022 season.

Baltazar is the former assistant manager of Nottingham Forest and will lead the team in the new MLS Next Pro league.

The 36-year-old worked alongside Sabri Lamouchi at the City Ground for a year, until the coaching staff were sacked in October 2020.

Baltazar also trained in Portugal and Cyprus with APOEL Nicosia, where he helped the team win the championship and qualify for the Champions League. He also worked in Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.

Vardy said: “As a group, we were extremely impressed with Bruno’s presentation, which outlined his philosophy as a manager, something that was in tune with the club’s vision and playing style.”

Guilherme Ramos, who was also previously part of Nottingham Forest’s behind-the-scenes team, joins Baltazar as assistant manager of Rochester New York FC.

Vardy bought a minority stake in Rochester NY FC in June and became co-owner of the club along with the Dworkin family, who have been at the helm since 2016 and also own a portion of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings.

The new MLS Next Pro League was established by Major League Soccer to create a talent trail all the way to the top division, with every team other than the independent Rochester New York FC affiliated with an MLS franchise.

The inaugural season is expected to start early next year.
