It’s a Propaganda World, After All – Bill’s Weekly Column

One of the most evil men to ever walk the earth was Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda. His lies about Poland brought the planet into World War II and his demonization of the Jewish people was the basis of the Holocaust.

As vile as Goebbels was, he killed his own children in Hitler’s bunker, is considered a genius and is the orchestrator of today’s incredible propaganda machine, which is aided and favored by the Internet.

Goebbels understood two fundamental things: that most human beings are generally uninformed and believe what they want to believe. And that if you repeat a lie often enough, many will think it’s true.

The corporate media in America today largely controls the flow of information to people. Social media companies are the most dominant in that area. And for these powerful companies, information is money. The truth has little to do with it.

Media companies reach out to the public and deliver what those people want to hear. Like Germany in the 1930s and early 1940s, there are few restrictions when distributing dishonest trash.

Two recent examples of propaganda from both ideological perspectives.

The liberal line is that President Trump “instigated” the uprising on January 6, 2021. But we now know that Trump made a request to the Pentagon on January 5 demanding that 10,000 National Guard members pledge to protect the Capitol and oversee the rally. of crowds in Washington.

President Trump could not directly order the Guard to take to the streets or to the Capitol. By law, the DC Mayor and the Speaker of the House must first apply.

Muriel Bowser and Nancy Pelosi didn’t do it even though they both knew trouble was brewing.

So, if Mr. Trump really wanted violence, why would he have to request the Guard? And why does the House panel investigating January 6 ignore the Pentagon documentation on his request?

The media are also silent on the evidence destroying the “instigation” theory, as well as the possible January 6 guilt of Bowser and Pelosi. This is a very high level propaganda scenario.

On the right, you also have a splurge about the Capitol uprising. There is a video of two men urging protesters to invade the building that houses the Congress. Neither was arrested. One man’s name is known, the other so far anonymous.

During a recent radio interview, the host asked me about “FBI undercover agents” who were stimulating the Mafia. He said he heard it on Fox News and on the radio. He believes that the two men filmed are somehow working for the FBI and that is why they weren’t arrested.

Of course, there is no evidence that the Office is involved – it is a conspiracy theory. And it’s absurd. How can one think that the FBI, already under fire for the Russian Collusion fiasco, would have participated in a seditious attack? But apparently millions of people believe it.

Propaganda is dangerous. It can destroy truth and distort reality. It can certainly lead to violence, as history shows us.

And it is here. In style.
