A once in a lifetime opportunity. Jamie Dornan played Christian Gray in all three Fifty Shades of Gray movies, and while many stars of the franchise worry about typecasting, the Irish native said it wasn’t even a possibility for him.

“At the time, I was asked if I was afraid of being typecast – like what? Like a BDSM-loving billionaire? I think it’s a one-off, “said the 39-year-old actor the telegraph in an interview published on Saturday 1 January. “Nothing like this has happened to me again: I’ve barely worn a suit since then.”

Dornan began playing the dominant CEO in the 2015 film, based on EL Jamesnovel of the same name, opposite Dakota Johnson, who played Christian’s true love, Anastasia Steele. The duo is back for Fifty shades darker in 2017 and Fifty shades of red in 2018, earning over $ 1 billion at the global box office, but not everyone is a fan. The sexy series is often the subject of many jokes, a problem she denounced in the fall.

“I disagree with the whole thing being just a joke,” he said British GQ in October 2021. “Everyone involved worked as hard as possible on those films, including myself.”

While he doesn’t like people laughing at the hard work of the entire cast and crew, the Belfast star explained in his latest interview that he can take a joke.

“I’m used to it. Do you know what really helps? I come from a place where picking each other’s mouse is our common currency, “she told the UK outlet.” It’s the way we communicate, it’s the way we show affection. So if you are from Belfast and you give a lot of shit – like I do to my friends – if you can’t get it back, you end up a little bit fucked up. But I’ve always been able to give shit and take shit, so I’m kind of armed for it.

However, he is not so prepared for his daughters to learn about Christian Gray. Him and wife Amelia cautioning, a composer, share three children: Dulcie, 8, Elva, 5, and Alberta, 3.

The Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar star wasn’t a father when he signed on to play the bondage-loving billionaire. He and Warner welcomed their eldest daughter at the start of filming the steamy movie series. Dornan was asked if he would still be signing on the film now as a father of three girls and avoided a straight answer, noting instead that he isn’t worried about the film about them.

“I can be a real cynic, and if it hadn’t been me in the film, it would have been different,” explained the Belfast actor. “As my girls get older, will they have to answer embarrassing questions? Yup! But will it have a detrimental effect on them or my relationship with them? No.”
