Frazer Clarke can emulate Joe Joyce’s fast heavyweight rise, says promoter Ben Shalom: ‘We will take calculated risks’ | Boxing News

Frazer Clarke will move “with the speed of Joe Joyce” to reach the level of the world heavyweight title in just a few years, says promoter Ben Shalom.

The 2020 Olympic heavyweight bronze medalist has signed a pro contract with BOXXER and Sky Sports Boxing and, at the age of 30, is planning a quick impact among his new rivals.

“Joe Joyce is the easiest to compare. It’s an obvious comparison,” said Shalom, promoter of BOXXER.

Frazer Clarke says he plans to demolish opponents and entertain fans across the country

“Frazer will have to move as fast as Joe, who is now 35 and vying for the world title.

“When Frazer is 35, we would be very disappointed if he hadn’t already fought for the world title.

“It will have to move quickly over the next few years, but also carefully.”

Joyce won silver at the 2016 Olympics and is now an undefeated pro, approaching her first world title.

According to Shalom, Clarke can emulate Joyce’s fast track to the top of the division.

“We will take calculated risks with him,” he said.

“But Frazer is a world class operator. You don’t have Frazer success in Team GB setup unless you are world class.

“We think Frazer will face most heavyweights quite comfortably. We have no worries.

“We want to give him every possible opportunity.

“We plan to keep him active so he can learn his trade. We think he will be perfect for professional play because he has power and variety.”

Clarke will soon announce her professional debut.

“Frazer can appeal to the largest sports audience possible,” said Shalom.
