The “anniversary” look caught fire in 2021, according to the annual ASOS Trends Report, and will continue to set the style over the next 12 months.
The demand for 90s-inspired clothing – baggy jeans, cargo pants and bright, bold colors – will also continue, which has increased in 2021.
The online clothing giant also reported:
- Party heels sold at the rate of one pair every 13 seconds
- Huge popularity of rockets – over 446,000 pairs sold
- Sage green was the favorite color for bridesmaids’ dresses

In a separate survey of 2,000 adults, also conducted by ASOS, 40% of 18-35 year olds said they spent more on clothes in 2021 than in 2020.

And it seems shoppers are looking forward to putting their new looks together, with 67 percent of young people between the ages of 18 and 35 planning to hit Boxing Day sales, spending an average of £ 119 each. .
Generation Z and Millennials are the biggest bargain hunters, with three in five (67%) saying they spend on sales this year and wear jeans (45 percent), coats (36 percent) and sneakers (36 percent). percent) at the top of their wish list.
A quarter (24%) of 18-35 year-olds say they will wear oversized, baggy clothing in 2022 and a fifth (20%) will choose large, bold colors.
This is a continuation from 2021 where oversized styles accounted for 60 percent of men’s jersey top sales and there was a 135% increase in the number of women’s rockets sold.
The bridal and wedding industry was huge in 2021 – after a series of lockdowns and canceled weddings – with customers purchasing over 1.5 million bridal and bridesmaids dresses, featuring the long-sleeved Iris maxi wedding dress which was the number one choice for brides.
The bride and groom and male guests were well dressed and well underway, with sales of more than 100,000 suits and demand for formal shoes increased by 80%.

ASOS commercial design and visual director Vanessa Spence said, “The trends of the 90s are still very popular with fashionistas, especially the 20s, who haven’t had a chance to experiment with flares and crop tops. the last time.
