The Coronation Street stars revealed all the behind-the-scenes secrets, mistakes and outtakes of Soap Slip Ups on Monday Christmas.

During the special episode, the soap stars revealed that Roy Cropper’s actor David Neilson throws the cast “off guard” with cheeky pranks during scenes at Roy’s Rolls Café.

Steve McDonald actor Simon Gregson joked: “David Neilson, he’s a bad man!”

As Nick Tilsley star Ben Price added, “When Roy’s Rolls needs it and the camera’s on you, he’ll give you something you didn’t ask for.

“He’ll give you something and you say, ‘I didn’t ask for a cake’ and he’ll go away, he’ll get you the cake. ‘But I didn’t ask for a cake’ and he keeps looking at you, going ‘[take the cake]’.

“But he’s offscreen, so I laugh and everyone says, ‘Well, Roy wouldn’t laugh!'”

Ben added: “That’s how he catches you off guard because you don’t expect it from David and that makes things even worse!”

Viewers were in hysteria about the special episode as they went to Twitter and demanded that it last an hour in the future rather than the 30-minute format.

It comes after Coronation Street fans were left in tears in Saturday’s Christmas Day episode as Roy made a thrilling return to ITV’s cobblestones.

In November, soap watchers were devastated after Roy left Weatherfield to work as a chef in South America due to feeling guilty about his unwitting role in Natasha Blakeman’s death.

During the special holiday episode, Roy made an emotional return to be able to spend Christmas Day with Nina Lucas in heartwarming scenes.
