Columbus cops become fashion police with new blue uniforms, ball caps

White shirts and eight-pointed hats? This really is the last decade.

Columbus Police Division officers and sergeants will soon be a little more “hip” when they patrol the city streets and answer service calls.

By opting for comfort over formality, the division is gradually eliminating the daily use of white shirts and eight-pointed hats that have been staples for decades. Instead, officers will switch to wearing a navy blue polyester blend tee with an optional matching blue baseball cap. The division navy pants will remain the same.

The new kit will be rolled out across the division throughout the first half of 2022.

The new shirts will have an embroidered badge and the officer’s name and badge number embroidered on their shirts, both of which should be more visible to citizens, the sergeant. said Giuseppe Alberto.
