Burnley 0 – 0 West Ham

West Ham have lost an opportunity to solidify their place in the top four after being held 0-0 by Burnley, who still have only one win to their name this season.

Starting the day in fourth place but level on points with Manchester United, this was a chance to get three points clear of their first four rivals, but the quality in the forward areas was lacking for the Hammers.

Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope was called on to make just three saves, but was in excellent shape to deny Issa Diop, Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen as he cracked down on West Ham’s threat from set pieces with some exceptional holds under pressure.

Burnley failed to threaten but nearly scored a winner when Jay Rodriguez failed to take home Charlie Taylor’s cross as play ticked into injury time.

They remain in 18th place after an eighth draw of the season, but are only two points behind Watford with one game down.
