Middlesbrough are one of several Sky Bet Championship clubs interested in borrowing Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.
Balogun has not appeared in the Premier League since August, but remains part of Arsenal’s long-term plans and signed a new contract in April that binds him to the club until 2025.

Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder tried to sign the 20-year-old, born in New York, in 2020 when he was at the helm of Sheffield United.
Balogun is also receiving interest from Europe, with French side Ligue 1 Saint-Etienne monitoring his situation.
Last month Arsenal academy manager Per Mertesacker hinted that Balogun, who has made a total of 10 first-team appearances in all competitions, would be on loan in January.
Nketiah free to speak to foreign clubs
Meanwhile, there is no change in the situation of striker Eddie Nketiah at Emirates Stadium.
Nketiah, who last month scored a hat-trick in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup against Sunderland, has turned down the club’s latest contract offer and is now in a position to negotiate a pre-contract with a foreign club.
January is Arsenal’s last chance to cash in on the 22-year-old, although compensation would have been due even if he left on a free transfer.
A permanent sale in January was not ruled out, although Nketiah’s services may be required as former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has already left for the Africa Cup with Gabon.
