Someone said, a December recap in Ghana? Well, now that we’re back and settled into the new year, let’s take a look at some of Afrochella’s hottest moments! Fan favorites including Ari Lennox, WizKid, Ayra Starr, Amaarae and Tyla took the stage at Accra’s El-Wak Stadium for the fifth kick-off of the festival.
“All the stars in the universe have lined up and shone on Afrochella of 2021,” said festival founder Abdul Karim Abdullah. “We have been able to secure exceptional, one-of-a-kind partnerships with the likes of Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and leverage these partnerships to organize an amazing array of events throughout the week.”
All the roads of Detty December led to Afrochella last December. Colorful African prints, bright stage lights, electric festival goers, and cool drinks were always present. Afrochella has established itself as a one-stop shop for everything related to West African culture. From music to fashion to food, attendees can expect to experience instant immersion in local culture upon arrival at the festival.
“Afrochella was a huge vibe!” Said the MC Young Prince festival. “Being on stage and seeing so many people from different backgrounds vibrating to the rhythm of African music was truly a blessing. It was my second year hosting it, but this time it felt more special.
Since 2017, Afrochella’s mission has been to amplify the voices of its people and bring together Africa’s most talented creatives, artists and entrepreneurs.
“Energy is here! Live music cannot be replaced. It’s great to see the artists we love bring so much energy to the stage, ”said Bozoma St. John, Netflix CMO and special envoy to the President of Ghana.
