New Gold Zone Found in Sumatera

G-Resources Group Limited claims that new gold mineralization zone is found in Martabe, South Tapanuli, North Sumatra. The Hong Kong-based gold company is on drilling examination at the spot.

“We’re very pleased with the discovery”

The field known as either Horas or South Barani is only located three kilometers off the Martabe gold mining project. G-Resources also shares ownership of the mining through its subsidiary PT Agincourt Resource.

“We’re very pleased with the discovery,” said G-Resources Group Limited President Director, Peter Albert, to VIVAnews today, Dec 21. ”

According to Peter, the company is preparing further drilling in Horas. Three core rigs, which function as early estimator of the gold potentials, have been installed on the scene.

“We’re continuing our efforts in performing aggressive exploration, proceeding with new discoveries, expanding resources and reserves, and improving growth in the long run,” said Peter.[VivaNews]

Australia-Indonesia strengthen relations through scholarships.

The Australian Embassy in Jakarta strengthens its relations through Australian Leadership Award Scholarships to 26 Indonesians doing major studies.

“We enjoy every productive relationship with all organizations which have received the scholarship,” Greg Moriarty, Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, said here Thursday (16/12) evening.

The Australian scholarships envoy said that by the scholarships for the Indonesian people, Australia and Indonesia could strengthen their relations further as well as develop Indonesia. (more…)

Does Obama’s Speech in Indonesia Lead to Something or Nothing?

USA - IN PresidentWhen U.S. President Barack Obama first addressed the Muslim world in its traditional heartland last year, his speech was laden with references to the past, to Islam and to the tensions plaguing the Middle East. Updating his speech on Wednesday on the far eastern fringe of that world, his upbeat remarks about Indonesia’s democracy, development and diversity spelled hope for the future.

Obama said it was wonderful but also a little disorientating to be back in Indonesia, where he spent four years as a schoolboy almost four decades ago.

Indonesia Should Learn from The Twin Disasters

Indonesia has been devastated by a second natural disaster as the region’s most volatile volcano erupted, killing more than 30 people, just hours after an earthquake and tsunami claimed a minimum of 300 lives. Hundreds more people are missing in the wake of the earthquake off the coast of Sumatra, which sparked a 10-foot high Tsunami that smashed over several islands and washed hundreds of homes into the sea.

Indonesian authorities were struggling to cope with the aftermath of the 7.7-magnitude earthquake, with rescuers struggling to reach the Mentawai islands, closest to the epicenter, because of strong winds and rough seas.
Padang Sumatra is on the same stretch of coastline as Aceh, the epicentre for the tsunami on Boxing Day 2004, when 200,000 people in 13 countries were killed. At least 128,000 people died in Indonesia alone. (more…)

Indonesia Still Fight Against Corruption: IMF

Foreign investors are still prudent on their expansion plans in Indonesia

Corruption, the weak governance, as well as legal uncertainty are still the major obstacles for Indonesia to improve its economy according to an annual report presented by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) published today, September 16.

In the report, the IMF recommended Indonesia to cope with the obstacles mainly on corruption issues.

According to the IMF, the potentials are there. “As one of the countries in Southeast Asia that records solid economic growth, Indonesia in 2009 registered 4.5 percent of economic growth. This is deemed the third fastest amongst any G-20 countries”

However, foreign investors are still prudent on their expansion plans in Indonesia as they will await further measures taken by the government against corruption. (more…)
